2024 International Exhibited Animal Welfare Conference: the Importance of Welfare in Reproduction and Population Management
第二屆展演動物福利國際研討會: 繁殖與族群管理於動物福利中的意義
繼去年「生命不該只是活著」研討會，本次活動為TAZA動物展演業輔導小組第二年所發起、規劃與執行的國際展演動物福利研討會。
為了更深入探討動物園與水族館繁殖與族群管理中動物福利的議題，本研討會以演講搭配工作坊的型式進行。演講的部分邀請到四位國外學者與業界專家，來臺講授「動物繁殖對生活品質的損益」、「動物繁殖技術與其福利疑慮」、「過剩動物的處理」與「動物移動/運輸過程中的福利」等相關主題內容，分享國際在實務執行上與科學發展上的最新趨勢。另外，展演輔導小組也將針對「動物運輸規範」、「動物流向追蹤」、「國內物種族群管理程式應用」與「物種展示手法與族群管理」四個子主題，進行主題輔導短講。
工作坊提供四個主題(預計為預計為有蹄動物運輸的動物福祉考量、靈長類繁殖與族群管理的動物福祉考量、大鳥籠鳥類繁殖與族群管理的動物福祉考量、狐獴繁殖與族群管理的動物福祉考量)給學員在報名時挑選自己有興趣的主題參與，而每個工作坊組別均會研擬出符合不同動物類群動物福利的運輸或繁殖規畫，並進行成果分享。
Following last year’s ‘Beyond Survival’ conference, this international exhibited animal welfare conference is the second one that is initiated, planned and executed by TAZA Zoo Animal Welfare Advisory Group.
In order to further understand the welfare issues regarding the breeding and population management practices in the animal exhibition industry, the conference contains both oral presentations and workshop sessions. For the oral sessions, we have invited four leading professionals and experts from across the globe to discuss the welfare issues in reproduction plans, reproduction techniques, and the management of surplus animals and animal transport. Additionally, our team members will also be presenting short talks that include the animal transport related legislations, the animal individual tracking system, the application of species management systems, and the exhibition design and population management,
For the workshop sessions, we will be providing four different topics (which are hoofstock transportation plan and its welfare concerns, primate reproduction and population management plan and their welfare concerns, aviary reproduction and population management plan and their welfare concerns and meerkat reproduction and population management plan and their welfare concerns) for delegates to choose from. After group discussions, each group will present their transportation or breeding plans to others.
TAZA 動物展演業輔導小組 TAZA Zoo Animal Welfare Advisory Group
TAZA動物展演業輔導小組為台灣動物園暨水族館協會下的工作團隊，也同時為去年與今年展演動物福利國際研討會的發起、規劃與執行團隊。除了年度的國際研討會外，團隊亦協助農業部推動動物展演產業的進步，並常態性舉辦從業人員相關課程、輔導動物展演場所、審查動物輸入案件、翻譯國際動物園與水族館相關文件(如世界動物園暨水族館協會動物福利手冊)、設計各動物類群動物福利評估表，以及提供動物展演管理政策擬定建議。
TAZA Zoo Animal Welfare Advisory Group is not only a working group operating under Taiwan Association of Zoological Park & Aquarium but also the team that initiate, plan and execute both last and this year’s events. Aside from the annual international meeting, our team also assists the Ministry of Agriculture in improving the animal exhibition industry, regularly helds training courses for people from the animal exhibition industry, provides consults to animal exhibition organisations, reviews animal import cases, translates international zoos and aquaria related documents (such as the WAZA Animal Welfare Strategy), designs welfare assessments for various animal taxa, and gives advice on the revisions of Animal Exhibition Regulation
